Pair of old school books - third (1882) and fourth (1875) readers.
Appleton's Third Reader has 214 pages of reading lessons with darling illustrations. Pages are worn and have age-related discoloration. Some are torn. First page is quite tattered but you can still read what is pencilled in the front, "Meda M. Lowell 1884 her book Bristol, Ind 1884." Cover is very worn but has wonderful red lettering.
"The Graded-School Fourth Reader" has 240 pages of lessons and sweet illustrations. Pages are worn and have age-related discoloration. There are many names written in this little book, among them: Julua Thomas, Minnie Schumann, Hattie and Lillie Hegetschweiler. Many little rhymes about the repercussions of stealing the book have been inscribed on its pages by the pupils.
Each book measures 7.25"h x 5"w. You get both!
