Mary Ann Suckling filled her sampler with wonderfully naïve and folky motifs, like the large basket of flowers flourishing in the center and the heart enclosing the year it was wrought. Equally charming is her use of color in rendering the birds (one red, one green) and fir trees (green and pink). Stitched over 1 and 2 threads on Week’s Dye Works 30 count Straw linen using cross and four-sided stitches. WDW threads used throughout.
