Queen's Sampler Pocket E-pattern

  • Product Code: CS-E-QUEEN

Sarah Orne Jewett’s quaint story, “The Queen’s Twin,” was the inspiration for this sampler pocket.  In Jewett’s story, dear Abby Martin believes she has a kindred spirit in Queen Victoria.  I can just imagine Miss Martin working this bit of stitchery and sweetly wearing the purse over her skirts – even though she lives all alone on the rural coast of Maine and there is no one to admire it but her.  No matter – ‘twas made in honor of her Queen and that is enough for her.

This little pocket features cross and Algerian eyelet stitch and was stitched on 32 count natural, unbleached linen.  Fully lined and with straps just long enough to fit around Miss Martin’s small waist.  I’ve added a bit of vintage silvery bead fringe to the bottom of mine but you could use any number of the wonderful trims available today.

Stitch count: 87w x 97h

Stitched area:5.5"w x 6”h

Finished purse: 6"w x 8.5”h not including the straps and fringe

Pattern includes a color photo, professional cross stitch chart with floss colors, instructions for Algerian eyelet stitch (easily done on linen) and instructions for making the pocket.
